Hey, I'm Spencer Bokrossy, I'm a game designer committed to creating interesting play experiences by creating systems and mechanics that players enjoy. I love working with other people and collaborating on something bigger than myself. In my eyes, the best games are made by people who share a common goal and passion.

Since 2017 I’ve been working at EA on Economy and Monetization design. I specialize in creating interesting, long term economies for players to progress through, focused on reward players for both time and money invested in the systems.

I’ve also been teaching the Mobile Design course as Vancouver Film School since early 2020. This is an extremely rewarding part of my week. I guide students on how Mobile design differs from traditional design, and use it as an opportunity to research other successful games to gain a better understanding of industry trends.

From 2014 to 2016 I completed 2 year long courses at Vancouver Film School, Foundations of Visual Art & Design, and graduated Game Design with Honors.

When I'm not designing on paper, I'm prototyping mechanics to see if they work in engine. While I usually program in C# inside Unity, I love to learn new tools and software.

authentic football simulator

May 2017 - October 2020

Overview:
Build your Ultimate Team™ or play as your favorite for the first time as you take on your friends or other top teams in the heart-pounding football action of FIFA Mobile!

Kickoff against teams from club football’s most prestigious competitions – the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Take part in playable live events that correspond with the real-world tournaments throughout the season to earn exclusive UCL and UEL Players. Follow every step, from the group stages all the way to the UEFA Champions League Final.

Role:
Economy/Monetization Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Created and maintained the in-game economy for a DAU of over 1.5M

  • Restructured the economy with each yearly release

  • Designed and iterated all game monetization systems

  • Worked with core design team to create new features

  • Managed the tools team to build improved workflows

  • Implemented game content using a combination of Excel, XML, and in house software

  • Ran the content deployment pipeline multiple times per week, delivering new content to users

 

UFC Mobile

Overview:
UFC Mobile 2 brings you authentic MMA fighting like never before. Knockout the competition with new fighters, advanced capabilities, and updated weight classes — all tied to UFC.

Combat sports, revamped. Experience authentic UFC action as you collect and compete against real, world-class athletes. Fight in intense matchups and engage with live content in-between actual UFC Events, something no other fighting game can offer. The real world of UFC has never been more accessible.

Role:
Economy/Monetization Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Designed a new game economy from the ground up

  • Created complex itemization and player progression systems

  • Implemented various pieces of live content 

  • Created price points for all items, focused on a balance between player retention and revenue

  • Worked closely with the analytics team to create data sheets with actionable data based on a large set of KPIs

  • Trained others on how to create economy content and tuning
